$1M – $3M
Accurate, reconciled transactions got you this far. Past this point, you need to know margin by job, product line, or location, and most owners here are still guessing. The reports exist; they just don't answer the question you're actually asking.
- Margin visibility by job, product line, or location, not just overall
- A real read on cash position, beyond what's in the bank today
$3M – $6M
Decisions need a financial plan behind them
Adding a crew, a location, a product line, these calls stop being gut instinct and start needing real cash flow and forecasting behind them. This is usually where a monthly report isn't enough; someone needs to model what a decision does to cash before you make it, not after.
- Cash flow forecasting before you commit to new overhead
- Scenario modeling for hiring, new locations, or new equipment
Along the way
Inventory, job costing, and multi-location reporting turn into a black box
The systems that worked at $1M don't scale on their own someone has to build the next version. What started as a spreadsheet or a single QuickBooks file wasn't built for tracked inventory, job-level costing, or multiple locations, and by the time it's holding you back, unwinding it is its own project.
-Inventory and COGS tracking that actually matches reality
-Systems that hold up across more than one location or entity
This is the gap between books that are technically done and financial leadership that keeps pace with growth. That gap is what we close.

I'm Lieah Torbert, founder of Harrington Strategic Partners. Most fractional CFOs come from the top down, strategy first, allergic to the details. I came up through bookkeeping, so I understand both ends: the transaction-level mess actually happening in your books, and the strategic view your business needs on top of it.
That combination matters most at exactly the stage you're at, where the books usually aren't clean enough to build a real strategy on top of yet. We fix that, then we build on it.
